I started my embroidery journey making embroidered Modern Cloth Nappies (MCNs) when I was off work on parental leave with my two gorgeous boys. From there I learnt how to digitise designs to further my work in this area, and shared the designs I made with others for sale. My passion quickly became digitising designs and I wound down my MCN business in 2014.
As my kids have gotten older I have gone back to my full time ‘day job’. While I don’t have a lot of spare time for digitising new designs, I have kept this business running as the designs I have done to date are still quite popular. However I don’t rely on the profits from this business as I once did, so made the decision once I returned to work to put this money towards other causes.
We live on a rural property in a small town in the snowy mountains of Australia. Here we have at any one time at least 5 rescue horses that we are either educating to go to good homes (or if this is not possible will have a forever home with us) and we also take in injured or orphaned wildlife along with poddy lambs from neighbouring properties (lambs who have been orphaned or rejected) and hand raise them. We also use profits to sponsor disadvantaged school aged children in Australia and provide them with the learning essentials they need such as books, stationery and data, so they are able to get an education and hopefully break the poverty cycle.
So you can feel good in two ways in buying our designs! We hope you get pleasure from sewing them out, and your money is going towards helping others.
